aveula.exe - WTF! ARGH!!!!!
What the hell is this file from? I've run a search on my system have discovered references to it in two places:
AVEULA.EXE-20509B5F.pf in directory c:\windows\prefetch
and
aveula.exe in directory c:\windows\system32\Com
The aveula.exe file seems to be causing me grief. It gets launched - sometimes multiple copies and eventually makes my iexplorer freeze. If I end the process for this aveula.exe everything goes back to normal (but it launches itself again...)
I also get error messages occasionally that say the aveula.exe file has a problem and is shutting down (the file, not the system). This seems to do nothing other than improve performance.
I run McAfee shtuff...
Do I need this file? If not, can I just delete it or rename it?

You'll need to run adaware to get rid of that. www.lavasoftusa.com
Its a FREE Spyware tool for home users. pretty darn good too.
Also go here and do a free online Virus scan: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
Takes awhile to run bet well worth it.
Trend is one of the best Antivirus programs to use (They are www.antivirus.com)
If you have Norton or Mcaffee GET RID OF IT. almost 50% of all virus's are writtin to bypass norton and Mcaffee. You wouldn't belive how many peoples computers I fix and the problem is a virus, and there all like " OH but I had Norton installed" Baaa
BTW. I'm a corporate computer Tech.

first off u can go to add remove software. if u look hard enough you'll be able to spot a couple of things like search asistant/ shopathome network/ gator search toolbar. also for gator go to run type in regedit and search for "gator" then "gain" and delet it. be carful in the registry though you can do damage.
another tidbit. go to run type in msconfig click on start up. take off any check mark you don't use on a regular basis. leave these running (atiptaxx or whatever video card u have, wupdater , mmtask , lqywhj , sm1bg , wupdt , msmsgs , anything assiciated with your antivirus popup blockers. everything else can be unclicked. your boot up time will be cut in half after the second boot up and your system should run smoother. note after your first reboot your get a box saying your using msconfig and do you want to see this mesage again , decheck the box

Basically, it's a way to load programs faster and it is used by Microsoft Windows XP and 2000 (2003). It's not a virus or a worm.
