I just bought a Garmin 60cxs with City Select North America and Topo. It seems to to do just about everything anyone could want and then some. No feedback on it yet, but Im just wondering what you use and how you like it.

 

Magellan Roadmate 760. Actually, we bought it because it was one of the few that was listed as having preloaded maps on the internal hard drive of Hawaii. We bought for a trip to California because we knew we'd be driving all over, but figured if we were going to spend $$$ on a GPS, might as well be something we can use at home, too.

It works really well, has lots of preloaded destinations, resteraunts, hospitals, etc... and the spoken instructions are clear and easy to understand. Touch screen is large and user-friendly.

Only small issue is that sometimes it takes almost five minutes to find it's location once you turn it on. It spends a lot of time looking for the satellites to get a fix on it's location, more so if you get on a freeway before it finds itself (I guess because you're moving faster, I don't know). Other than that, it can tell you where you are down to a house number on a street.

Not the cheapest model, though. There are many other models that probably can do just as well for a lot less, especially if you don't need a map of Hawaii.

I have a GPSMap 60 CS. I can only imagine how well the CSx works with the newer chip. I seldom lose a signal in tight canyons.

 

on the car pc setup i run a globalsat bu-353 reciever, iguidance3 software for streets, and am currently looking for a good topo solution. anyone have one? was looking at ozi explorer, but not sure.

it runs on the onboard p4 1.8ghz, 512 ram, etc. on a 7 inch 16:9 touchscreen. best thing ever!!!! also plays mp3's, videos, dvd's, can hook it up sirius and xm, FM and AM, TV tuners. and best of all it runs windows XP pro. so you can have the internet, how ever you want to get an internet connection while moving is up to you.

and i spent just over 1200 on the whole thing... and it could have been had for much cheeper.

 

I have the 60cs too...I havent really used it yet though.

 

Would kill to replace my aging Garmin GPS V with a 60CSx!

 

garmin ique 3200... garmin's software is the best!

I run TOMTOM off of my Treo 650 using a Seidio powered GPS cradle.
you save a lot of money if you already own a treo, your cellphone becomes your GPS, and you can talk on the phone while navigating using the handsfree bundled in the cradle.

Garmin e-Trex Legend. I bought a sticky windshield mount. It's not as nice as ya'lls but does the job!

 

I have a garmin gps IV plus. I've had it for like 7 yrs now. The screen is small roads are clutter unless you zoom in, but you loose bearing that much zoomed in. When it first came out it was awesome but now I see all these new units with 4 and 5" colored screens It's definately time to upgrade. But I do have to say that mine is still working and working well after 7 years and you can carry it around with you it you go hiking past base camp. Does anybody know if they have GPS recievers with topographical mpas on the display? One time in mexico I was taking an alternate route (4x4) to a surfing destination just going by lat. and long. and almost went over a 500ft cliff. oops.
If i had a topo map or option on my reciever that could have been advoided.

 

I just bought a Garmin GPSmap 76 from eBay. Looks like it will be nice, and it was cheap too.. perfect for my budget

 

just got a garmin 60CSx...it's my new best friend!

Well had a Gramin 45xl, then to II+, then to a V and now considering and most liekly buy (Ebay of course) the 276c (loadable with chips and downloads, very auto friendly but also a chartplotter for maring use. Very nice clear color screen too.

Let you know when I get it!
