Testing a CB that's been sitting for years?

I dug up a Radio Shack TRC-483. It was last in our motor home, and to my knowledge it still worked. The wiring is intact and the fuse is even still there. I don't have an antenna to plug into it though. It looks like a nice digital unit, and I'd love to hook her up. Can't beat the price. But I'd like to know how do I determin if it is actually working besides totally wiring it up?

you cant really determine if it works 100% without actually wiring it to power and an antenna...

Oh I know, I've been told that. So I'm not even going to wire it up until I have an antenna.
