Magellan Roadmate 700

Went for a ride today in Drew's truck.
He recently bought the Magellan Roadmate 700 GPS system.

Use to be the Garmin Street Pilot was one of the best out there for a portable unit, but not anymore.
There are a few reviews on line, and place to purchase it from.

Here are a few vids from today of the unit in action.
Vid one
Vid two
We purposely went off course having Andy's home plugged into the route, and even after going off course, the Magellan told us how to correct ourselves and get back on track again.

This unit is really amazing.
You can not get lost with this thing.
You can use the buttons to navigate the unit, or use the touch screen, very cool.

It also will show you were all the restaurants are, gas stations, police station, ect, ect, ect.
It really is cool.

I know I could use one as I am lousy at trying to find places.
I even had Andy take me last August to Bellevue to pick up my new PC, as I hate driving in Bellevue and always get lost.
One of these units would have got me right to the front door of the shop.

Oh boy...what do I say, the unit costs over 1G...no wonder it's so good.

How can I afford one?

I have the lowly model 500 and I love it, I don't do too much travel throughout the country so this one is perfect for me.

Costco.com is having a special right now on the 700 , I think it's going for 1100.00 with a 50.00 rebate.

The 500 is esentially the same unit except the huge difference is the 700 has a built in micro drive.

Sooo this thing works pretty good The only thing I dont like is the inability to upload your own waypoints. Though it does have a 20GB drive with all of the US and Canada as well as a ScanDisc slot. But what the hell its for is still uncertain. As far as getting lost , probaly wont happen using this unit. I like it but not what I really wanted "Garmin 276c or 376c"
