CB and antenna install on my 05 w/pics

Hey all. I don't post too much on this board but thought I'd share my CB install with everyone. I had seen this radio installed in the older tacomas and it was a nice fit so I figured I'd try it out on my rig. It took some 'slight' modification to my dash kit (ie: it was a major pain in the ass) but the final result turned out OK. Here's a few pics:

Cobra 18WXSTII radio
Firestik II antenna
Firestik side body mount

This one shows how I made the ground connection behind the tail light. I sanded the area under one of the fender bolts down to bare metal and attatched it to the base using 10 guage wire.

The coax is run along with some other wiring to the front of the bed and enters the cab through a grommet located behind the drivers side storage compartment. From there I ran it under the carpet and up through the center console. It was a tight fit and I used up pretty much all of the 18 feet of cable. Got everything hooked up, tested the SWR and after some fine tuning I'm at 1.1 across the board. Life is good.

Great looking dash install. We did that in our double din 3rd Gen, but haven't figured out how to do it in the 4G with a PC122. I really don't want to just drill it into the center tunnel on the passenger side, but it's looking like that may be the only option since we have the factory 6 disk changer.

Aloha,

Merlin

Nice, I have always wanted to put my cb in the dash. Its too big and I don't really want to have to buy a new one just for it. Maybe one day.
