2000 4Runner navigation installed.

Hello all,

I'm new here and thought I would post some information about my installation of a Camry all-in-one nav system into my 2000 4runner. I purchased the nav unit from oemvalue.com. Currently oemvalue is out of stock of all nav units, but check back often as once he gets them in, they fly out!

Here's my page if anyones interested...

Great Post. I'm thinking about doing that myself.
How does the system sound? (I currently have a Clarion headunit in there, but thinking about upgradeing to a unit that Plays MP3's.

Also, is there a way to play DVD movies on that screen?

Thanks for the kind words! The system actually sounds better than the stock radio... at least to my ears. NO, this unit does not play MP3s. This fact was not an issue for me as I rather enjoy different FM stations. If you want MP3, capability, you need to get something like the Eclipse AVN2454

The unit DOES NOT play movie DVDs. The DVD player is only for the map. I believe there are inputs for a DVD changer on the back, but how the interface works, I have no idea and information is scarce. Again, models like the Eclipse AVN2454 or the Pioneer (can't remember the model number) are capable of playing DVD movies.

Everyone must make their own choices on what features are important. For me, it was so I would get lost a whole lot less. Now as I use the unit more, I'm finding that the POI convenience is so very nice to have. The other day, I wanted to find a Target store, and so I entered "Target" on the POI screen, and bam!... it listed something like 15 locations nearby. This is nice!!

Yes, the OEM look is great and was one of the (major) deciding factors in going with the unit. The radio functions are all displayed on the lcd touch screen. The cd/dvd units are located behind the lcd screen. If you visit oemvalue.com, they have many photos of what the nav unit displays and how it tilts and opens.
