Wiring Harness

I'm installing a new HU to my 1999 4Runner Limited. I bought all the necessary stuffs, mainly the #70-1761 Metra wiring harness. However, this harness won't fit/plug in to the factory harness...

Am I missing something here? I ask the guys at ABC warehouse (where I bought the new HU) and they said that's the only wiring harness they have for the 4Runner...

^this is what I bought.

Did you guys have this problem too?

Does yours have an external amp? If so you will need to remove the wire harness that goes into the amp. Then you will be able to plug it into the harness you bought.

I do know that some of the newer Toyota HU's (with an internal amp) use a different harness.

It may have it externally. I'll look when I get home tonight.

I took out the oem cd/tape player last night. that's when I found out the factory wiring harness does not plug in directly to #70-1761 Metra. The factory is only single plug while the metra has two..

Yeah the external amp and the internal amp harness are both a single retangle harness. Follow the factory harness down and see if it leads to a silver box. If it does, then that's your external amp. The harness you will need is on the right hand side of the amp.

BTW Nice IS300, my bother has a 02 IS300 with the 5-speed too. But his is bright red w/graphite wheels.
