tacoma radio to pickup questions...

I would like to put a big button double din radio in my 92 pickup.Cant stand the tiny buttons on my aftermarket unit.I assume it will fit if I take out the tray under the radio.Do I have to look out for any problems like theftlock systems or anything like that? Also all of the radios I have seen have no plugs,so I guess I will have to get them from the dealer if they sell them.I am starting to think I would just be better off getting an aftermarket double din unit. Can anyone chime in and tell me the best way to go?Thanks

the factory sr5 radio is double din.. go for it, make sure you buy the $20 wiring harness so you dont have to cut everything up (unless its already been done!)

Like Jay351 says- get the wiring harness from the stereo dealer. You'll hook / crimp the harness that comes with the aftermarket stereo to the harness you buy from the stereo shop to interface with the truck and then plug it all together and all should be good to go.
And yes, you'll lose the pocket in the dash if you put a double din unit in.

you can get a the trim peice that pops in under the ashtray and cig lighter with a tray in it.. Mine doesnt have it, I think most 4runners do, they are universal fit.
