Power to stereo

I just bought a 3rd Gen 5spd 4WD 4runner. The radio has to be turned off or it will continue to run when the vehicle is off and drain the battery. Does this mean that the PO cut out the factory harness and hard wired that deck into the truck? If so I'm hiring a pro. If not I'll try to re-route the power to an accessory on the fuse box.

Just wanted some input before I tear up the dash on my "new to me" truck.

Thanks in advance

he wired it to the consistent 12v power of the truck. the radio needs to be wired to the switched/key 12v power. you shouldn't need to use the consistent. you only to switch one wire so it's wicked easy, just make sure you know which wire is which. find a diagram or something to tell what wires are what color
hope that helps if not, me or other members will give you more help.
