I'm using Monster speaker wire, pretty thick gauge...and the tweeters are mounted up high closer to the ear so i think that is the main problem...

 

I think the main problem is that the tweeters are seperated from the mids and they sound harsher when the volume is up for that reason and i do not have the technology to limit them. The tweeter pods are aimed at the opposite window so that is helping but I think they are too far apart from the mids and too close to the ear....I just cannot adjust for this. I started building some kick-panels for this reason but have decided to hold off because I cannot build baffles to save my life and i'll leave it for when I have more time.

My question now is, is there any way that I can wire a resistor or something to turn down the volume of the tweeters even more than what the crossover can do for me. I do not know how a crossover turns down the volume as I do not know enough about the mechanics of sound and electricity. I want to do this also without buying a new headunit or sound processor right now...maybe in the future as I'm buying some new subs. So if someone wants to educate me on how I could go about doing this or if there is a cheap product out there then let me know...

you could wire in a veriable resistor that way you can sort of fine tune the resistance. cut the + wire to the tweeter and wire it though the resistor

go to radioshack and get a 100k ohm pot and wire it up to your tweeter and then turn it down. once you get it to where you like it, just tuck it away and be done!

 

Sounds good but what is a 100k ohm pot and if you could just go into a little more detail about how I should wire it in there...
