Need amp wiring help

I have searched with no solution. I am installing an amp in my '94 4runner. I have everything hooked up but the power wire. My dad wants me to hook it up to something switched so that I dont drain the battery and I am totaly stumped on where to wire it to. I tried to hook it up to the fuse box but I coldnt find anywhere to hook up the big 8 guage wires. If someone would point me in a diretion that would be great.

thanks guys
-Greg

wire it directly to the battery.

remote wire to the head unit will turn on the amp so there should be no chance of battery drain in normal operation.

just make sure what use for the remote has power only when the ignition is on, you want to never hook the main power wire up to the fuse box. make sure you run a big inline fuse within 12 inchs of the battery on the main power wire, the fuse you use depends on your amp, i have been told use one that is double what the amo is running on it.

I do this stuff professionally. (If you want to kill a hobby, turn it into a profession.)

The REM+ input on the amp is basically what turns the amp on and off. When that terminal sees 12v the amp turns on. When it sees no voltage it turns off. this input should be wired to an ACCESSORY circuit. That is a circuit that only carries 12v when the key is turned ot "on" or "acc". when bumped over to start an accessory circuit should loose it's voltage. and again if the key is turned to off, an accessory circuit will loose all voltage.

The B+ terminal is a full time 12v connection and should always see 12v.
The Ground terminal is a full time ground and should always see a ground.

When wired up properly, a properly functioning amp will never drain a battery. Wire it up improperly (say constant 12v on REM) and it will kill your battery in short order....
