Hey dibble, on the re-wiring that tweeter said, i think that you definately don't have to. i have bostons that i got from tweeter, but i also got a Alpine head unit, and they aren't amped either. I really like the sound i get out of them, but at the same time, i'm not going for competition like sound. We didn't rewire anything in light of speaker wire. My buddy does installs for tweeter so we did it after hours and i was able to be back there to lend a hand and see how it all went together. For the front speakers, he just tapped into the factory wire in the door and ran that into the crossover. He then ran new wires out of the crossover to the driver and another one to the tweeter. He then just mounted the crossovers in the doors. For my rears, they were just regular speakers and not components so he again just used the factory wire in the door.

Sorry i don't have any info for you on the other brands. All i know is that i love my bostons. I've had three sets of them in three diffferent cars and i've never had any problems. i also paid the extra 50 bucks from tweeter for the extra warranty replacement program. I put a hole in one of the surrounds when i had to remount the speaker in another car and they gave me a whole new set of speakers, no questions asked.

just to bring back an old thread, lol, i did start it. Anyways, I am looking for an amp to replace the stock one. Possibly, I don't think it is, but, it would be nice to fit the amp in the stock location. How are the tweeters wired from Toyota? Do I need a 4 channel or 6 channel amp to have all my speakers work right (2 rear, front, and tweeters.) I am still working out of the stock headunit cause I'm too stubborn on the stock looking stereo, lol. So it would be nice for the amp to have line level inputs and RCA inputs(i can upgrade later on). I do not need the amp to run a sub because I will be using a self powered sub. Any input would be great! Thanks

Really a 2 channel amp will get it done. Run the components with it and let the stock amp run the rears. The tweeters are part of the component set BTW. So what components did you finally settle with? I would recommend either the CDT-61a for $149 or the RE comps for $169.
