BOSS audio opinions?
Anyone know a BOSS amp? I'm looking for a pair of inexpensive amps, and figured BOSS would lead in that category. I've never had one, but I'm willing to give this brand a shot. I remember a BOSS Audio dually here in Houston, and his truck was super loud. I think he ran Pro-Tech or something.
Anyways, I don't care for the opinions that say "BOSS SUX AZZ" or any other BS like that. I'd prefer actual experiences.
Oh yeah, I'm picking up a 94 Honda Prelude. For subwoofer bass, I'm gonna have either a pair of JL Audio 6's or Digital Design 6's built in a bandpass enclosure that hangs from the rear deck. I'm doing this so I lose ZERO trunk room.

dude, honestly i would stay away from boss amps. i have had friends who onwned them, and they dont last long. they are unreliable and you will end up spending more in the long run when that amp dies and you have to buy another one. i'm not trying to be negative, i'm just saying that they are not built well. sony, pyramid, boss, etc. are mass manufactured in third-world countires and just arent built well like u.s. made amps.
those subs you are getting are very nice subs, they deserve somthing better
look at MTX or JBL, also, hifonics and soundstream amps are decent and can be found pretty cheap on www.sonicelectronix.com.
what is the RMS rating of the subs you're looking at? what ohms? how much are you looking to spend on an amp? are you going for sound quality (SQ) or do you want it to just be loud (SPL)? bandpass eclosures are terrible for SQ, so I guess you're going for SPL, huh? hit us up with the answers and i'm sure they'll be plenty of people here willing to help.

Well I'm purchasing a 1994 Honda Prelude from a theft recovery auto auction. I'm using it as a beater to get me from school and back 5 days a week. I wanted a cheap system in it, since the interior was basically gutted. I figured I could get away with a pair of coaxials up front and either a pair of 6/8 inch subs in an infinite baffle setup in the rear. I didn't want to spend more than $500-$700 on the entire setup. When I thought of cheap amps, BOSS came to mind. I already have a Lexus LS400 with TRU amps, and a Tacoma with US amps. Figured I won't be using anything like that in this beater
Here's my current daily driver click here
I'm open to suggestions to almost anything out there. I'm hoping to score an amp setup that will work for my needs at around $100. Its not much, but if you saw the beater you would understand.

dont overlook lightning audio... they have some relativly cheap amps that will run really well... I run two and the only times they blew was from me disconnecting them wrong... other than that, i can crank them all the way and they can handle it... :xmas3:

Coming from a retailer point of view, I have seen many people go and buy cheap brand products and regret it when the equipment fails or they get poor customer service. Go to your local car audio store and see what good brands are sold. Sure you may have to spend a tad bit more money for a better product and better service, but why spend your money twice? Make sure you get a good warranty. Now starting in 2005 Diamond Audio offers a lifetime warranty with their amps but the amp must be installed by the authorized dealer and stay in the original vehicle. Subs have a 3 year warranty if installed by the dealer and it doesn't matter whether they are moved or not. I just wanted to give an example of a good brand. I bet that BOSS stuff has just a year warranty if it even lasts that long. Bottom line-- Spend it right the first time! Some nice brands I sell are: Diamond Audio, Eclipse, Kicker(may drop them soon, they just signed with Circuit ˟˟˟˟ty oops I meant City a couple months ago, and they don't stay loyal to their dealers), Clarion, Sony, Pioneer, and am about the pick up Crossfire as a middle brand for people to go to. Anyway thats just my .02.
