avic d3 install

avic d3 install

I USED THE SEARCH, didn't find anything besides Coreys FJ install , has anyone installed the pioneer avic d3 in a gen3?? mines a 2000 ltd, wondering what exactly I will need to hook up the wiring adapter ,harness ? and or trim pc. etc any help will be greatly appreciated thanks

I haven't done a D3 but I installed a Z1 in my '96. It was a fairly simple install. Hardest part was tapping the Vss wire by the ECU but that wasn't even that hard. Just grab a harness from walmart or where ever or a toyota and wire it up before hand. If you have a factory amp that'll get pulled out and the harness connects to the plugs from the amp. You'll know if you have an amp because the clip from the deck won't plug into a harness. If you do just follow that clip to the amp and pull it out. It's a pretty straight forward deal.

how do I locate the vss on my 2000, and is it necessary?? the avic is in and working on the gps ant but not all functions are operational

OK, I had the factory amp in my 96 and I'm puing in a D3 so is there a VSS wire in the factory amp harness? If it's there or close then what color is it?
