Automatic antenna, bugging me!

I've got a 2000 4runner...So, I wired up my system the other day, and everything works perfectly fine. But what bugs the hell out of me is the stupid automatic antenna! With the factory radio, when you use the cd or tape feature, the antenna would go down (if you were listening to the radio) or just stay down if you were already listening to a cd or tape. But now, with my new stereo, I can switch from radio to cd, to ipod, and the damn atenna stays up. Not so bad right? Wrong! It's so damn annoying when I go to change the cd, the antenna starts to go down, I pop a cd in and psych! the antenna pops right back up. I've never seen this happen before, with any vehicle; I hope I made a stupid mistake somewhere and this is fixable. Any gurus have any suggestions?

You probably connected the antenna wire from the HU to the antenna trigger wire.
The other way to do it is connect your amp turn-on or power control wire from the HU to the antenna trigger.
This will raise the antenna when the HU is on and down when off.

hmmm strange. My antenna worked properly when I had it motorized still...

Double check the wiring, you should have a solid blue wire hooked to the antenna wire and a blue/white wire for your REM. Get it backwards and the antenna will stay up no matter what.

It could also have to do with your deck - what kind of cd player do ya have?

Just bend the antenna (accident). Then stuff it down (purpose), then get Sirius. Try to ignore the motor grinding trying to push it up.

You can put a switch in for the power antenna so you can raise it or lower it when yo want to.
Check my mod. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...lighter+switch
