Alpine LAT Subwoofer systems

is anyone running the Alpine LAT powered truck subwoofer enclosures?
there's the PLT-5 and the PLT-7. They recommend the smaller version for pickups and the bigger one for SUVs. I like the form factor of the PLT-5 and was wondering if anyone was running it in their 4runner. thoughts? thaks!

I've heard the first one you posted in a Scion Xa. My personal opinion is that in a 4Runner I'd get a traditional sub amp combo for the price. I like the idea of the Alpine unit, but I think it's too much of a compromise.

4runner sub suggestion

thanks whitey13 and toy89...
I have been thinking seriously about this sub and reading lots of reviews. it's new technology but it's won a lot of awards and people seem pretty impressed.
I want to ask your opinion, I am running the new sony slim edition 4way amp and I like it a lot, it fits really easily under the passenger seat of the 2nd gen 4runner. It sounds great and looks great too.
here's the link to my amp: (Sony XM-4S)
and my head unit, I like it a lot, looks great (CDX-520)

my question is whether I should go with a powered sub like the alpine PLT-5 or PVT-7, (which look sweet by the way), or whether I should get the sony slim edition sub amp under the driver's seat, and get a traditional sub cabinet.

I know some guys hate sony car audio, but I've always liked it, and love my new amp and head unit.
if I do decide to get a sub amp I will go with that sony slim series, but I don't think I will go with a sony sub enclosure. I have been thinking about kicker but really don't know squat about sub cabinets that would be recommended for a 4runner.

so...my question is, should I go for a powered alpine, or sony slim edition sub amp and a cabinet
thanks a lot guys!!

i don't know the exact price of the alpine system, but i'm thinking you could probably build up a traditional system (normal sealed or ported box with subs) for less than it is and it would more than likely give you a lot more bass output...
