So I recently bought my 95 4runner. The stereo plays cds, but none of the buttons or controls work, except for the eject button. So it plays cds, but cant change volume or anything. Also, none of the speakers work except for the rear driver side speaker. I figure that the faulty stereo and the dead speakers are not related. Is it possible that a faulty stereo could cause 3 of the speakers to not work?

 

Yes. It is possible. Just replaced a Honda OEM Stereo in my wife's car. Rear speakers worked, front didn't. Acted like a speaker short but was the stereo.
