93 extra cab install questions
I have a neat old 93 extra cab
And I have already put in a head deck and 2 channel amp with 6.5" splits in the rear storage bits
I had a sub sitting on the seats in the back going through the amp
But I really wanna keep the seats usable
So have you got any ideas on where I could but a sub in the car but being able to have the two seats free
My first idea was to make a custom box some how and have it long ways in the middle but I don't know there isn't much of a gap there

I'm about to take this journey as well. With me driving the jump seat behind is pretty much useless so I think I'll be building a box there. It's less than perfect but I only need 3 seats and that's about the only place I can think of to put a 12" sub.
If you need all 4 seats there are still a couple options if you downsize. A single 8" or 10" should fit under the drivers side jump seat in the storage area. You'll need to be careful of depth and seal off the compartment somehow. Fiberglass would probably be the best option.
Also you could fit an 8" or 10" under each rear window where the storage pockets are. This will require more work. And I believe will require cutting out some metal to allow the sub to fit. You will need a shallow mount sub (not sure of exact dimension) but there is a lot of room in there. Fiberglassing an inclosure in here is also required.
Good luck and post up pics of your build as well as any good ideas you come across. There's lots of 4runner stereos on here but not much for xcabs.

Think I might give the idea a go
I'm new to this so I'm not sure if the picture worked .. Haha

there's threads on this from a few years ago - basically you just cut a hole for sub in the under-seat compartment's lid, driver's side. dunno if a 12" will fit in there, but a 10 should, and definitely an 8". that's where i plan to put mine when i finally get around to installing a sub. nice thing is you can just flip the seat down when you park it so nobody can see it.
