5 questions before laying my RAAMmat down

Tomorrow is the day i will be laying my matt down. A few questions i'd like anwsers to b4 i start.

1- What is the best way to lay matt around objects that poke out? ie: The white clips that attach the actual door handle. Pic below....

2- How do I fill the big open gaps in the door before putting on matting? Or do I even need to? Pic below....

3- What's the best way to locate holes that screws go into after laying matt down?

4- What's the best cleaner (inexpensive) for cleaning the tar- like substance that once held the plastic weather strip to the door?

5- Would you matt under the metal structure piece that the storage comparment/jump seats are on? Both on top of it and inside? Pic below...

1. Slice small x's into material

2. Get Masonite and cut to shape than put a layer on the front and back and one layer over it.

3. Try to remember the locations and press hard with finger, or cut the piece (if needed) and hold up to door and estimate, or just do that and cut small holes in the material.

4. ------------ Alcohol, Gasoline, Diesel maybe? I'm not too big on these things.

5. Yes, one layer at least.

Use some of the carpet padding to stuff the pillars and lay over the material and under the carpet.

Edit: Do the roof too.

You can hit my body panels and they are sooo much stiffer now. I wonder how my system would sound w/o the Second Skin in there.

for #4 (cleaning tar-like adhesive), did you try wd40 yet? (spray onto a cloth and rub the surface). if so and that didn't work, did you try goof-off or one of its numerous clones?

Use the holes in the doors that I said to cover with Masonite and put a nice layer or two or three on the outer layer of the door panel. It a pain to work in the tight spaces, but it makes for a much more sound body panel. If you don't do it, it kind of defeats the reason. I have I think 4 layers on my front doors and 3 on my rears and 4 on my rear hatch, which is too heavy now and doesn't want to stay up too well anymore.

I used 180 Sq. Ft. I a 4Runner.
3 and 4 layers on the roof. 2 and 3 layers on the floor.
I did a lot of tapping to find "weak" spots.

Get a heat gun just in case.

Make sure to clean the WD-40 off with brake cleaner or something afterwards.
