1st gen Runner and Alpine SPS-410

got a 88 runner and looking to upgrade my entire sound system. right now im looking at dash speakers. 4" is what i have come up with. two of my other rides both have a complete alpine set up and would love to do another alpine set. i know alpine uses rather larger/over size magnets. anyone know if i can install a set of Alpine SPS-410 in the dash? i dont mind bending the tabs but depth and width of magnet is what im worry about.

any 1st gen runners rocking Alpine SPS 410?

its been a while since i got rid of my first gen, but if i remember correctly i had to go with a lower end pioneer in mine because of the vent tubing on the passenger side. anything with a larger magnet just would not fit. did you think about cutting some 6.5's in the doors instead? much larger variety of options as well as better sound quality

thanks. this is not my DD so i dont need it to have the best sound system. i just need something better than stock. i prefer stock locations because i want it to look really factory. door panel speakers all look tacky and out of place

guess ill have to do some measurements. im ordering online so i dont want to deal with returns. surprised no one has used this speaker up front yet

Well have you pulled out the old speaker and looked inside and just do a visual check?

Alpine SPS-410

Did you end up using the Alpine 4" up front. I am considering the exact same in my 1990 4Runner. Would be interested to hear how you made out. Thanks.

As said before, make sure that the head-unit that you run isnt very long, due to the fact that it'll hit the vent.
4" Speakers blow under the dash. I put ford-size speakers in my doors and havent gone back. Twice the sound quality.

here are some pictures of them installed. fits but its not flush. because the stock speaker has a bent tab. you cant bend the alpine tab as its pretty solid. it will still install tight and mine wont go anywhere. i still used the two stock mounts and screws.
