1985 4Runner Audio

Hi, I'm fairly new to the forum, and am new to setting up car audio. I recently bought a 1985 4Runner base model that still has the stock speakers, and had an extremely old headunit. I'm hoping to replace all of this over the Holidays, and wanted to get some feedback/help on a question I've been having. Right now, as far as what I have picked out is concerned, I have the 4" Alpine SPS 410 for the stock position in the front, and as for a head unit, I've picked out an Alpine CDE-143BT. I know both of those will fit in the stock positions, but while looking into getting speakers for the rear stock position, behind the plastic panels, I can't figure out if what I would optimally like, Pioneer TS-A6966R 6"x9" speakers, will fit. I've heard both yes and no, and others that say it will likely need a bracket. I really don't want to have to alter the appearance of the interior by cutting and installing, so I would really like to know what other people on this forum have done and if there is anyone with pictures that they would be willing to share. I greatly appreciate it. attached is a picture of my truck.

1985? I hate you already - LOL!

Stock rear speaker is outboard of the roll-bar, correct? I installed mine to the side of rear passengers but this is how I did it. I don't have pics but here's the concept. Cut the oval in the adapter board so mid-range and tweeters are well centered on the stock grille opening, favoring the tweeter if possible.
After you reinstall the inner quarter panels, you would not even know what kind of speakers you have behind there.
