i found an easy program to use. Its called Avatar Capture v1.5, i think i downloaded it off of download.com if not you could search for it. It asks you to buy it if you want but you can do a 30 day trial. It's real easy once you download it, right click on the pic you want then scroll to "open with Avatar Capture" and then then right click again to resize the image and save. but that is just my .02

You can maybe have a member on here help you resize it for you too if you need to. Thats what Ocelot did for mine.

Avatar troubles. I have endlessly tried to get a picture of my truck under the 10kb limit to no avail. I even went as far as to save it as a "0" quality jpg and it is still around 16kb.

ugh

I will also help folks out with resizing/cropping photos for their Avatar. Just send me the photo along with the requirements you need to to meet for the particular forum and I will send it back to you.

after numerous attempts in photoshop I got my current avatar down to the limit, but as you can tell.....it is worthless. I guess the picture was just too big to begin with. I kinda like my blurry little box tho.

I have Photoshop 7, but I used a much cheaper program that I use more often.
It is called Picture It! from Microsoft.

All I did was open it and set it to 10% compression which is stock unless you move the slider, and I upped the size to 140.
Program profile

It is a great program, but several years old.

yea, I have 7 as well. I only know the very basics tho. I havent really fooled around with it enough. I jut changed the image size to get it small enough. and when you save as it lets you choose quality so I brought it down till it was small enough.

If you have PS7 then you have Image ready. That does a nice job of reducing the size.
