Engine Swap

My 89 Toyota pickup (V6) 4x4 has a 3.0 engine, should I replace it with a 3.4 or a 4.0? Thank you!

Not unless you have a good reason to.

How is the health of your 3VZ-E?

The engine just hit the 200,000 mile mark; engine runs great, purchase the truck 10 years ago from original owner. I replace the Timing belt and head gaskets 3 months ago. Reason for the swap is that I’ll be going off grid during the weekends with the wife and dogs. I will be adding an ARB roof top tent and other items for our road trips. I figured bigger engine will help with the added weight and more horse power.

Horse power = work over time (ftlb/min). So unless you are drag racing or otherwise in a hurry it's really not needed..

Dance with/what who you bring as the saying goes.
