End the drama!

Lately I've been noticing a flood of "My GF/Wife/Dog/Cat/etc. left me" threads that are showing up all over Off Topic. I know it's Off Topic and all but this is just not cool.

I've started spending less time on this site and have really avoided Off Topic for the most part because I'm tired of seeing people whine about how crappy it is to have someone they loved leave them. It's life, it happens, I don't want to read it on my 4x4 forum irregardless if it's Off Topic or not.

I can understand if there was something funny or weird about the situation but the bleeding heart sympathy threads turn me away from here. From talking with a few other members who have been here longer than me, we're on the same page on this issue.

Whats the deal Ryan....you don't have to click on the thread. Some people may feel better talking about it with 17,000 strangers.

Edit that 17,000 number.....19,845 strangers

to each his own. its off topic for a reason. i dont think youll ever catch me talking about issues like that on here, but thats just because i dont wish to share all that publicly. some people do and theres nothing wrong with it. just dont open up the thread and skip over to the 4x4 related ones or funny video ones, thats what i usually do.

It does seem to be a trend here. I guess I just skip them and go to stuff that seems to have to do with Toyota Tech and ignore the "drama".

I have not been here all that long compaired to some but I have noticed an increase in way off topic threads.

People will always discuss this type of stuff, but it happens more at this time of year.

Why?

Weather!

Many are kooked up in their homes/apartments, to cruddy out to go wheeling or get the toolbox and moding equipment out to work on their rigs, so they post about other stuff that is going on with them.

I just skip over the thread titles if they do not interest me.

I think that we should end the "how much do you love YT" reposting!
Who cares though, just avoid the topics...unfortunately this forum is open to everyone so we will talk about more topics than just the ones you want to hear about I mean really, I also think we should end the "look at my new tires" threads unless you have some large, new, and amazing tires. No more revo threads!

My Yota left me . . . I blame myself really . . . I know I haven't been paying her enough attention lately. I haven't bought her new shoes for years. I haven't fixed her dome light, or climate control backlight . . . I just didn't think that they were that important. The dog hair began accumulating. Then I got a company truck and started leaving my beloved Yota home in the driveway every morning. I should have seen the signs, the rough starts, new noise from the heater fan, the stale interior smell . . . now she's gone. Please help me -- what can I do???

So, if I understand correctly, we should limit what is in the off topic section?

Does moving the mouse an extra 1-2" add enough stress to not come to the forum?

Yes it can be annoying, but every one gets in a rut from time to time.

However, do as you choose, I simply disagree.

You're off on this one, Ryan.

It's Off-Topic, you deal with it.
I'm not much for the drama either, but I understand this is how those posters are dealing/coping with their issue. When a loved one leaves you, and it will happen, you'll deal with it your own way.

Sorry the forumers can't cater their musings to your preferences.

Tanto-
Aren't you basically perpetuating it by posting this whining thread?

This is not a plead to the administration to change the rules.

I can't and will not ask someone not to post or say something on this board, but that doesn't mean I won't voice my dissent at their actions as a whole.

If I am seeing this correctly, I think this thread added more drama instead of ending it.

I have to say that I'm leaning towards Tanto on this issue. It is OFF TOPIC, but in a 4x4 FORUM. There are other places to talk about that kind of stuff. My 2 cents...

Well, you didn't have to click on it.

I love wandering around Yotatech reading and learning, then learning what I'm reading isn't necessarily what I should be learning and learning some more. My ability to concentrate is such that OT in all its glory is a nice respite.

Personally I'm not a fan of the song threads (except that last one starts out pretty funny, silly Corey) but it's no skin off my nose that they exist, is it?
