Good point! I amaze people all the time when my 4runner with Revo's hangs with any size jeep or truck regardless of what trail it is. There are a couple of trails I want to try that will require some good undercarriage protection before I try them, though.

Can you explain your thinking further?

I am curious since I was thinking of locking my 4.10 front diff when I convert my PreRunner to 4WD. A front locker is not something I need everyday but (a) since I'll have everything torn apart I may as well do it now, (b) I don't plan to go above 32" tires and therefore don't expect to re-gear and (c) a front locker could be useful for when I get my ass stuck in the snow (a likely scenario ).

Thanks!

If you have it apart and throwing in a new diff, it is only like 120 bucks more to get some new gears in there too. Even if you are just going from 4.10 to 4.56...

Dave is right on.

There is no point in my mind to add a locker to a stock geared diff. You will have to go through the time and money of setting the gears, but not get the benefit of having lower ones.
