You dog.
You dog.Yeah, I gotta agree with ya, the lift is pretty crazy. In a vein attempt to convince myself that it isn't too crazy, I have been looking at a lot of other rigs that are running larger tires. Such as rigs that are in the Ultimate Adventure and such. They seem to be at about the same height. So, I'm thinking, maybe I'm in the ball park as far as lift goes. No doubt, I need to get some kind of step to get in and out. Having to literally climb in and jump out is not going to work for the little lady.
But, despite the lift, and big tires. I am really impressed with how it handles on the road, and off road. We did some pretty cool trails in the National Parks, and it did really, really well. Despite being overloaded, it never complained. I was really estatic about not haveing death wobble. I did cut the knuckles, rotate them, and then weld them back up myself. THAT, was a lot of work. But, again, in the end, I'm glad I did it.
I have some really cool video of it driving over a camera, as well as a side shot of the flex in action. Its pretty trick. I just have to compress the AVI file to a more manageable size.
Again, thanks for the compliments.

Glad to see it out of the garage Steve, being done is a good feeling.
Advice opinions if you had to do it again?
Looks biased to extension which seems odd for that ride height.
Keep up the good work, eh?

You are correct, it is biased towards extension. I have approximately 4" of direct upward travel. Should the axle tilt, I could get maybe 5-6" of upward tire stuff. So, thats around 10" of downward travel, all measured at the shock.
I'm working on getting a few "very large" AVI video files uploaded. So, you all with big bandwidth pipes, can take a look at the videos that were taken with a Canon Camera.
Advice......
Take your time, and do it right the 1st time.

Looks good. Bet it feels good to finally have it done. I have the roll cage and tube doors on my next to do list too. I can't decide if I want to do an exo-cage or interior cage. This weekend I finally got my doors set up with pins so I can take them off easily so the tube door project can start.

Yup, it does feel good to have it running and flexing really nicely.
I think what I'm most impressed about is the ride. This thing is actually smoother on the highway than my Ford Escape. When on the trail. the tires don't leave the ground. I was climbing around some small hills yesterday trying to find a place to flex it out, and was thoroughly impressed how the tires never left the ground. I didn't even need the lockers when driveing up and down this hills. With the aggressive MT/R tires, it just walked everything.
Your 4Runner is looking pretty sharp without the doors. I'm sure the tube doors will give it that trick look, and add some safety when wheeling. Very cool. Indeed, that will be on my list as well.

Dude, it looks awesome. When can I come up and see it in person? Let's run tank trap!
And the ability to accept major body damage
I would love to see a full bodied 3rd gen in the UA. However, I would not like to see the beast take hits to the body.

Hey Steve, I saw you pulling out onto Trinity this morning about 7:30 and my first thought was: "Good gawd, look at that guy's truck!" then I realized it was you!
I would have caught ya and said hello but I was late for work as usual. The truck is looking good amigo.
