Roof rack mounts..

It has been a while since I have posted anything here.. busy with life, work, etc.. I have managed to build a roof rack for my 2nd gen 4runner which I am anxious to install. Which bring up my question, The bottom bar on the rack is 1.5 o.d. tube, this is the bar that would be the attaching point to the roof. I would like to mount it as close to the roof as possible and I will most likely be doing it myself so something very basic and 'universal' would make it easy. I have access to any fab tool I want at work so fabbing something up in not an issue. I guess what I am saying is I am drawing a blank on this one... Any input would be great. If I was vague in this post let me know I could probably draw something up on Paint to help clarify

I just recently finished building a roof rack too. Not sure if this helps you or not, but here is a pic, and a link to the build thread.

Okay guys, I still have not come up with an idea I like... so I will post some pics in hope of someone chiming in with some advice... It will be getting an aluminum "floor" put on once installed on the roof so keep that in mind. Other then that, here are some pictures.

I was planning angle iron in the factory tracks notched to get as low as i could. Could you get a side front shot. Been debating if i want to go normal or wide like yours. For the front i was also going to bond a tab to the body at a hard point if you feel you need support up there.
