I think i have somewhere around 1500 in it but that includes tires, lift and purchase of truck and going to get it and all that good stuff.

I just picked up a set of axles out of an 84 pickup so i guess this summer i will be pulling it back in and go to work on it again. Hopfully my end result will have it sitting on 35inch boggers and what ever else im dumb enough to waste money on. Cause i waste enough money on my daily driver.

Its not a toyota but what do you think, good enough to pull my rig anywhere.

I found a front axle out of an 84 the other day at the salvage yard. only toyota he had so i traded a few things i had for the front and rear axles and he is just going to cut the frame off up front and let me have the hole front frame and i also got a couple other things from it like non bent wiper arms a marker light and arm rest, and driver kickpanel, center console and my tail lences were goo but faded so i snaged those 2. and that was pretty much the only things on the truck worth a dang. so i guess i will start my sas this summer.

Dude, I admire you! It takes lot's of patience and time to do what you are doing. I can't wait to see the near finished product.

Well done!

Looking good! Did you spray it with a paint gun or rattle can?

I rattle canned for now because its cheaper and i had alot of other places to spend the money first. It will look good enough for now and when i do my solid axle swap this summer im going to wet sand it and spay base coat clear coat on it. depends hell when i painted the bed side the spay can looked extremly shinny and you could see every reflection in it. im not using the cheap 97 cent paint either

So you start this thread with a piece of crap $150 truck and what appeared to be a somewhat naive narrative, then you go to work like a mad man with skills half us web-wheelers only dream about and pull out a terrific looking project in a month for less than half of what most of us paid for our trucks...

...please accept my apologies for seriously underestimating you at the start of the thread. I think you've inspired me to take a welding class.

Which brand of paint did you use? I'm leaning towards Krylon interior/exterior for mine. Mine is in dire need of paint and some body work (bad bondo job by PO).

I mean spray paint is still paint, and your paint job is only going to be as good as your prep job. the better you prep the better it will look. I would not use the krylon paint, the red i used was krylon and it turned out crapy so im using dupli-color paint it sparys out and lays down so nice and it lasts lounger. I get it for 4.50 at napa and krylon is 3 bucks so not much different for better results. I should of just used base coat clear coat to begin with but o well i assure you it will turn out just as nice.

Sweet work I just pulled the bed off my 87 pickup and did some glass/bondo work covering rust holes and repainted it today. Its good to know other people spend all day in a garage with their trucks.

Nope, not at all. While I admit I underestimated you at the get-go it got real apparent quickly that you got great skills and a great work ethic.

What I should have said, is that your can-do attitude and your resourcefulness really showed through and inspired me to get off the computer and out in the garage!

This is a great build up thread........almost like a 4Runner rescued from death thread!
