Hub Cover upgrade idea-

Hub Cover upgrade idea-

I busted the passenger's side Aisin Hub Cover, caught a rock right between the mounting bolts, it cracked and knocked a chunk out. The cover is pretty thin around the 8MM bolts, so I'm thinking about turning a ring to fit the O.D. of the cover and having it TIG'd on to add some strength. It would overhang the O.D. of the hub by a 1/4" or so-

What'da ya think? Will the overhang cause more problems than it would solve?

Complete junk jard hubs are going for $30.00 apiece here, and I can modify one for next to nothing-

So you're saying add a ring around the edge of the cover giving it a larger diameter? Might be worth a shot but I have a feeling it will only help a little. If you have access to a mill and lathe you could also try making a new thicker cap ring from scratch.
