Cutting bed...looking for suggestions

Im looking at buying this 87 toyota regular cab pickup. There is rust on the same spot, both sides of the bed. You will see it in the picture. I was thinking about instead of fixing the rust there, cutting the bottom section off...at that body line. Has anyone done this before? Please post some pictures of it done!

I think it would be better to do a bob or maybe ditch the bed and have a flatbed done...

i know it is cheezy, and i wouldnt necessarily recommend it, but a buddy of mine bobbed his bed and used pop rivets until he could get a welder. again, not the best solution, but it worked. we welded it up, ground off the pop rivets, welded the holes, skim coated the thing and we were good to go. if it were me though, i think i would hold off doing anything until you can arrange the use of someone's shop/welder. drive it like it is until you can bob it. looks like a fun truck. and remember what my old man used to say to me, "wheel what you got. if you wait until its done, you're never gonna wheel at all."
