I have been a Fabricator since the Mid- Seventies around 2005 I got out of that end and got into the repair of welding machines and plasma machines..

We all need to start someplace if your into the older 4x4 vehicles .

I'll start... Any tips for not catching my rig on fire while welding near (10-12") the fuel line? I'm adding in some frame-mounted spacers and hopefully sliders soon.

 

Having A fire watcher that really pays attention is always good

If catching anything on Fire or doing damage to paint or glass.

Damp 100% cotton rags work wonders you want them wet enough but not so wet as they drip and make a mess.

Because I get talked into welding on these vehicles ( A labor of Love) I made a few different shields that I clamp in place

Then it is the undercoating , seam sealer and grease or oil build up that will catch fire well before a good steel fuel line
