Definitely beef up the front crossmember. Padgett Fabrication builds a great Front Crossmember kit. It's laser cut, CNC formed from 1/4 plate, and uses 4 bolts in the front and 6 bolts on the bottom. There is also a receiver option for the front. Here's one mounted on my 87.
