3.0 oil pan swap

I'm getting ready to start my SAS in about a month (already got my "new" axle!!), but I've read a couple places that with the '85 front axle and stock 3.0 oil pan, the differential will put a major dent in the oil pan because it is shaped for the IFS differential. I read one guy took the oil pan off and cut a section out and welded a new piece to clear the differential, but I don't really want to get that involved. Is there any way that the T100 oil pan with the rear pickup tube will just bolt straight up to my 3.0 like you can do on the 3.4L??

The 3.0L and 3.4L share the same block. When I did my engine swap, I hade to bolt my 3.0L oil pan in place of the stock 3.4L oil pan, so it should bolt right on!

a little off topic but is there a way to remove the oil pan without dropping the trans(auto)?

it's more the tie rod that hits the oil pan... i believe the 2wd 3.0L oil pan is another option for gaining clearance under there.

Use a 3.0 2WD pan. It's a direct bolt on. The 3.4 baffle plate requires some drilling and tapping. Look in the Offroad Tech section for my write up.
