2nd Gen 4runner 3D Model

Hey all

I'm working on this model of a 2nd gen 4runner in my spare time. Ultimately my goal is to turn this into a mod for GTA 4. I've always wanted my own yota to cruise around in in that game but haven't found any decent models yet. Hardly any, actually. Tell me what you think:

Coming along great. Will you be releasing it in any non-compiled form so other people can mod it? I don't mean for game use I'd just like it for trying out bumper designs and such.

Yeah, that's that's fine. Like what do you mean in terms of format like .3ds or .obj? That's the other part of my goal with this is giving me some aesthetic ideas for my 4runner. If you could help me with it I'd be ecstatic. What format would you like?

That's pretty much what I meant. Just something editable and not yet compiled for video game use. .3ds or .obj would be adequate for most people here I'd say.

This is way cool... now if I can get it to work w/autoCAD14. I hate sucking at computers.

@nailit

If you 3DS Max you can export it as a different file type such as dwg or dwf
Adam, that's pretty cool. I'll definitely be downloading that when I'm not at work.

Those are really nice models! Are they surface models? I can really appreicate that cause I know how long that takes to do! I use Solid Edge at work, myself.

Say, you don't have a first gen model, do ya?

So I just started working on this again yesterday. Now I'm just letting my imagination get the best of me. Here's what it's become so far.

Now that is very cool. It would be nice to still have 'Monster Jam' and run your model in that. Nice work man!

Looking really nice adam.. wheel track spacing looks a little narrow though... would that affect the handling in the game? ie is the game eng. smart enough to know that narrow track vehicles that ride tall are more prone to roll over when cornering?
like that front bumper look... very similar to the style I want...

you should do one with tube doors and all that good stuff for GTA 5. it would be badass for the desert parts of the game!

We'll see. Right now I'm just trying to get it done. Like I said I'd love to turn it into a mod for Gta or something. Once I get it done I'll make a stock version and take requests as well but that's far into the future.

Yeah, I can think of a much better game for it. Of course that will have to wait until they're finished with it. Scheduled for full release in quarter 2-3 2014. Giving you plenty of time to work on it some more. And provided that the full version of the game will be moddable, as promised.

But maybe at some point before then, you could upload it to the ST forum so we can try it out in the demo. That would be cool.
Looking good so far BTW.

I downloaded the dev(moddable) version of the demo a few days ago. Just so I could check out the Toyotas others have been adding for it. A couple Land Cruisers and an AWD Celica already. Pretty cool.

Hell ya! I'll definitely keep my eye on that one.

Here's a full shot of the model from the side:

Nice!

Check out the FJ Cruiser someone just added today. He actually added 2 versions of it. This one is the stock-type model, no lift. The other has like 8" of lift. Both aren't 100% accurate. Since they're SFA. But who cares right? It's just a game.
