2 Modding Questions!
First question is about the 5VZ-FE Motor swap for a '91 toyota pickup! I know it can be done with the tranny, motor (obviously) and the computer.. But how hard is it really ? Is it drop in ? Or do you have to do some welding ?
Also i have a question about a solid axle swap. I know cutting out the IFS is required but how hard is it to mount up a solid axle.. Say out of a 85 toyota pickup ? How much welding is needed?
I did a search for both these things... Some stuff was answered but not fully.. So i'm hoping for a lil more indepth! Anything helps. Thanx! (makes me sound like a bum lol)

Can't answer the first one...
This answer depend on your mechanical and welding/cutting skill. I did the cutting myself. Had friends do the welding. The important thing is make sure the hanger is welded straight. the whole thing is riding on this. You can weld the hanger before chopping anything off. You can also drill the holes for the shackle sleeve too. I did the cutting with saw-zall and grinder. It's a big job but worth it.

it took me a couple of months of weekends and nights after work to do mine-
I'd guess the average guy will spend between 30 and 40 hours to complete the basic portion of a SAS project. It really depends on what kind of fab tools you have available. A plasma cutter and MIG welder make things go much quicker. It also depends on how picky you are in the detail work- I spent hours and hours grinding and using flapper wheels to clean up the IFS mounts after cutting them off w/ a 4" grinder. IT WAS SLOWWWWWWWWW going.
I also did the clutch, installed dual t'cases, installed 56" rear springs, rear axle flip kit, added diff armor, welded on sliders, waited 2 weeks for d'shafts, had locker's installed, put in a new timing set, etc. I started in mid June, wheeled it the last week of August of 2001.
