I thought your bumper looked very similar to the one on Trail-Gears website, but then you said you made your own, so i was just curious if there was any connection there. Great looking bumpers.

Thanks.

Yeah, TG doesn't even offer a bumper at this point, just the winch mount. I may be having a local place redesign the mount to not have to space the tubing up above the plate, but at this point, I just cannot beat their price for it. We'll see how that plays out. In the meantime, these are pretty much in full production at this point.

Is the entire frame mounted to the frame by those 4 bolts?

With and added plate to the frame?

Six bolts actually. Yes. 99% are mounted the same way.

Boxed ones are just too heavy. Mine weighs in at only 65lbs.

Nothing for 1st gens, but I bet it wouldn't be hard to modify this to work.

Sorry bro, just not a huge market in first gens anymore. I can build you one, but not something I would mass produce.

Earlier your said these holes would be stripped out under a winch load. I can't imagine the frame brace would aid in strength with that unless those holes were threaded. Are they threaded? If not, did you just thread bolts into the original frame holes? Or did you do that and put a nut on the other side? Could you get a nut on the two outer bolts that thread into the end of the fully-boxed framerails?

The nuts don't strip, they actually pull through the frame without the brace. They are tack welded to the back of only .090 wall tubing in that area.

The other option is that you can easily place some 1" welds randomly without having to deal with the frame brace. This will spread the load and should be fine for winching.

FWIW, All-Pro and Marlin bumpers also recommend welding the bumper on once installed. All-Pro even sends two tubing gussets with their bumpers.

Are there any easy ways to mount our turn signals that were in our factory bumpers? My 4Runner still has to pass inspection and go down the road quite a bit...
