thinking of swapping out my 1989 3.0 and 5spd trans for a newer version of the same.....I would consider an automatic, however I am more interested in what newer motor trans combos will interchange rather simply without much electronic gadgetry etc....any one have any suggestions, year and motor combo that I could buy and make the swap..

I own a 1989 pickup 3.0 - 6inch suspension lift 17 inch pro comp wheels toyo mt 295/70/17 new seats, stereo, carpet, glass, good top, just tinkerin with it..,...has 329k miles on it

anybody? really.....what motor trans combo from a newer toyota truck interchange rather seamlessly with my version?

 

maybe just a new long block....maybe a turbo from stc....i dont know...seriously looking for some feedback, new to the toyota arena

 

need more power more torque.....wife drives alot and hates the 5spd, maybe an automatic setup...please advise
