I wouldn't mind giving a rear bumper design a shot as well. I've got a few home projects in line first but then I'd like to get a welder and go to it. Its been a long time since I fired up the oxy & acetalene.

Karl (or is it Carl?), I've seen posts and talked with people who grew to dislike their rear tire carriers due to inconvenience, weight (weird ride characteristics), and reliability. Enough to change my mind on having one on my own truck. A 33" will (barely) fit underneath with the stock hitch. Just something to consider.

why not give the bruceTS rear bumper design a shot. the design is done, it works, is stout and if several are made, material costs would be cheap.

that's pretty much what a few were thinking of. I was just tossing around the idea of converting a set of sliders to bumpers. I'll probably end up getting the sliders put on at some point and get a rear bumper fabbed from some plate.
