Miner's Trail Report

Over the past weekend, four of us ran the old Miner's trail. This was a great trail, nestled in some incredible canyons. It was a short trail, but unrelentless.

Here's some photos from the action. All photos are courtesy of Ben. Thanks. He did alot of hiking to get some of these shots.

The terrain on the ride in from the highway.

The entrance wash to Miner's.

The SS Willy's working the 'Graveyard'. The buggy was the only vehicle to run through this part.

Kent getting the big taco down the canyon

The "88" 4runner..

I just thought this was a cool photo of the scenery + vehicle

Group shot @ entrance canyon...

Pirate...

Lined up @ Squeeze...tight fit, very tight. 3/4 trucks went through.

I had to go up and over to make the squeeze

SS Skinny...

Tall Brian does the same

Kent running the alternate route around

First of several waterfalls -

Kent running onto the next waterfall...straddling the notch

The next challenge...

This puts it in a good perspective

We all safely winched up the fall. It was tall, wet and slick rock. True slickrock.

Toward the end.

Great trip. No damage, no carnage. Thanks everyone for coming out. I had a great time.

Very nice. Some impressive obstacles on that trail. I am starting to like the "straddleNotch" stuff myself after Terminator... but those look even more precarious.

That's one heck of a hood ornament Westy!! How much HP and traction does that add? I'd imagine an S-load.

You guys are making me really jealous, since I'm stuck here in Dallas. Not a lot of wheeling in close proximity; not to mention that what there is doesn't compare.

Thanks, haha I think it subtracts hp actually and blocks my view of rocks however his eyes light up red and his jaws open and close too all worth it...

Once you get that 3.4 in, I've got another place for us all to check out. I'm sure there will be plenty 'straddlenotch' rocks there too for you to play on and burn some rubber with that soon to be hot rod.

Worm: Yeah we had a motivated photographer. I think he was on a coffee high

Jim D, bring that FJ out and Albuquerque you need a break from the Ftoy build. Come wheel that 4runner!

Up where I go it is all socked in with snow right now.
It will be that way until around April/May.

Going up in the snow is fun though.

This trail was a good one. Ben is always great as a photographer. He's always all over the placing getting good photos.

Lance - You should try and make it down for the Martinez run on the 15th if Ike is still planning on driving down. We can hit another good trail on Sunday.

The Jeep did really good.

It's nice to be able to see virtually everything.

Is that a 1948 Willys CJ2A pulling that Tacoma up or a 1981 Toyota Pickup?

Man that looks like fun. I think my 4runner will make it. Well, maybe my difflock switch will make it if its in my pocket and I'm riding in one of your trucks.
Can I get a ride one of these trips westy? That looks like fun!

I don't know yet if I can make the 15-16 Dec runs with you guys. I'm waiting on word that the trip I am on next week either cancels or gets cut short enough where I have the time to drive down.
