Thanks guys. I'm kind of excited about the chance rebuild, but can't believe how long I pushed my luck without a proper cage.

Nate- Glad you were able to walk away from this. So what do you have brewing in your head as a fix?

Welcome. 1st gen pickups are '79-'83, 2nd gen is '84-'88 IIRC.

Thanks Ted. I think I'm gonna scrap the body and bend some tube around some suspension seats with harnesses. The picture in my head changes daily though. I've also been tossing around the idea of an F-Toy to simplify things, but I'm having trouble justifying the cost.

My thoughts would be to do the F-Toy or something similar. A bunch of work for sure, but what you get in the end is something completely custom. You'll learn a lot in the process and of course you have "people" with knowledge, ideas, skill and willingness to help a buddy out. Connor, no doubt, would be invaluable from what I've seen and he can lay a pretty mean bead too. You'd definitely get more practice figuring the angles out. Dude seriously, glad you weren't hurt and the special people in your life (wife & daughter hmm and ranger too) weren't riding shotgun. I'm not over on TTORA or Pirate for that matter so post up here with what you plan on...

I was just toying with the idea of selling and building a tube buggy, i didnt get any serious offers so i built mine a little more. Full internal cage, suspension seats,5 point restraints, quick release steering wheel, 37 inch maxxis creepy crawlers, beadlock wheels.
went out over the weekend and snapped a front leaf spring so ill have to get another before wheeling again.

Going to be putting my rig ('87 4Runner) up for sale in the next couple days and am considering selling my Softtopper top separately.

Its this one: http://www.softopper.com/jeep-suv-to...toyota-4runner in black with dark tinted windows. It was $830 new and I'm thinking $600. Perfect condition with only slight rub marks on the windows since 95% of the time, the sides have been rolled up.

PM me if interested.

It's been a long time but I'm here in AZ. Still rocking the same rig for over 17 years. From a 2wd daily driver to full blown crawler.
