Wow... so lots of you wanted to go, huh?
We had a successful run, w/ the only parts broken being an H2's tie rod on Daniel and a nicely modded Xterra's CV on Rocky Mount. Those Xterra guys were a great bunch, willing to learn, and not afraid of damage... except for one guy, but he fixed all of his damage as soon as he got it. Daniel has gotten even more challenging approaching it from the single parking lot. Dutch John still isn't that bad, and we took every line we could going up Rocky Mount to pose on Kodak. We watched a CJ-7 try at least 10 times to pose, then almost roll three times, then finally make it. Sheesh. I took the far right and middle lines up and posed on the crack on Kodak, then guided the Xterra's up the bypass, except for Ben, who ended up breaking a CV trying the line 2nd from the bypass. Saw 2 4Runner's that were pretty stock and pretty afraid to try anything, although they were great guys and good spotters... had nice looking rigs though, all the required stuff for the " look ". (you know, Surco rack, light guards, bull bars, no lift, but stock size mud tires...) We had one BONE stock Toyota pickup that made several VALIANT efforts up Rocky Mount, but in the end had to take the bypass up Kodak. We got to watch two guys w/ their newly built rigs tackle Kodak. 2.5 ton Rockwells under each!!!
And NO LOCKERS!
44" TSL's on a CJ-5 w/ LOTS of lift and 44" Boggers on a S-10 bodied fullsize Blazer frame w/ even more lift. They pretty much bounced around and full throttled it over Kodak. Guess even big axles and big tires need traction aid. All in all a great day of wheeling... got to run a total of 8 trails, while doing Rocky Mount twice and Daniel twice. Hope too see some of you guys out there next run!
