Where are the Virginia People?

I don't go across the water too often when I'm home. But if we were to organize a club/group, I think I might be up for a ride every now and then. I've got a lowered 2wd pickup, so no trails for me, but I love me some back roads.

Come to think of it, I used to deliver to Dollar General stores all over NC and VA, even in Mt. City, TN... there's a gas station in Roanoke that still pumps 100% gasoline with no ethanol. I'd like to hit that place up on a near empty tank and see how she runs... the gas station is right up the road from the Dollar General on Plantation Rd NE.

Just passed through South Boston today on my way up to Georgetown. Had to see my truck... and grab my iPod. It did my heart great joy to see the old girl again. I'll be bringing her home this weekend and maybe start doing some mods I've been thinking about... but first things first, she needs a good degreasing and a throttle body/intake manifold cleaning, plus run some Lucas fuel treatment through the tank.

Potts Mountain J**p trail outside Roanoke - the local club does a good job maintaining the trail and there are a few interesting obstacles. Great place for a club ride because all of the obstacles have bypasses, so you can take a group with varying skill levels and rig capabilities. Nice campground (The Pines) on the end of the trail near Newcastle, VA.

It's a Jeep trail on National Forest Property. Yes, you access it from 311 as it crosses the top of Potts Mountain between VA and WV. Go east on a gravel road for about 5-7 miles, at the end turn right, then left about 100 yards down the road - the entrance is marked with signs. Air down at this point and have fun. AT the far end of the trail, take a right on paved road and you'll end up back in Newcastle.

So I'm trying to find this on a map but I'm having a hard time using your directions below. Do you know the route number or road name for the "gravel road" headed east?
BIG thanks for this! Am in this area often and would love to check it out.
PS First post here, been lurking for a few weeks...
