Hey guys
I just happened to see this and thought I'd drop in. I am in Little Creek VA for some fine Naval training and would really like to head out with you guys if that is cool with ya-all. The Runner handled the cross country drive really well and I'd love to get out and do some East Coast wheelin. I can do the 24th if it still is a go.

ecchamberlin,
Welcome to VA. How long are you staying for and what kind of training are you going through?

What's up guys. I'm new to the boards and am itching to go on some trails. My runner may not be able to hang with a lot of you guys but I am willing to give it a shot. I'm in the Roanoke area.

I will be heading back to CA on 30 Sep. I am in a 5 week class to become a teacher of Naval Leadership in Coronado. Kind of funny, I am being taught to teach. It actually is a lot about public speaking and has some cool human psyc stuff. Useful training!
So a short stay but I would like to take advantage of some wheelin with some fellow Yotatechers. Richmond doesn't seem too far from VA Beach so not a problem. Just will need some directions.

Howdy, we have ran across each other on the boards a time or two. I will take you up on that offer. How about next weekend. I am just doing some kayaking and waiting for the surf to pick up on the weekends here. I brought all my offraod gear so good to go!

The Sept. 24 trail run was added to the "Upcoming Events" section of the CORE4x4 website.

We just have to figured which trails we're going to do. There will be a multi-club trail clean-up going on, so we probably want to avoid hitting the trails that they are working on.

"CORE is planning to revisit Second Mountain and then do Ditcum Ridge trail. I would like to lead a trip there on Sept. 24. Please note that this trail ride is not for the beginner 4 wheeler as Ditcum Ridge has some tricky spots that do not have bypasses.

OR

I can do a scenic trail ride on Sept. 24 past Switzer dam up to the overlook at flagpole knob and then up to reddish knob overlook for a fall foliage run. This would be an easy trail ride that would be open to anyone that wanted to go."

I'll post which trails are picked once we figure it out.

That is fine. My wife is prego, so we have to deal with that, but she is SUPER cool. It is about a 2hr ride from VB to Richmond. I will be here, so let me knoiw. I am 100% for 24th.

I agree that both this weekend and next will be busy. I am not sure about camping. I think we are just going to get up early, as it not that far.

I am still looking into some trails in Crozet as an alternative to a possibly really congested weekend

its about 2.5 hour drive for me. not sure your gonna wanna do crozet. i think you need to have a at least 10 vehicles. also the only parts of crozet ive seen and done, you need at least 35's and 2 lockers, and expect damage. like i said there may be other areas there, but thats just what ive experiencd there.
