Washington Wet Wheelers

I've got huge problems. Terrible noise coming from my rear diff/axle area. Started earlier this week I thought it was something I left in the back of the truck rolling forward on the bed as I came to a stop (sounded just like that). I realize today that is not the case as it is happening when the truck moves forward at all. I'm going to have my girl take a video of it when she gets home. I fear my diff has grenaded. ˟˟˟˟ me.

Ouch that sucks..
I would recommend putting her up and pulling the tires off, might be something as simple as a rock or something caught in the rim.
If nothing else it will let you spin the wheels to help isolate the noise.

I live in a condo unfortunately. Closest garage I have at my disposal is an hour away and as it sits right now I cant drive more than 2 miles an hour without a terrible noise.

Well I might be able to see if my nephews place can let us work on it there (he lives in Everett) or if you think you can make it to Magnolia I can see if we can work in my brother's driveway

You are a good friend thanks for the offer. Turns out it was a false alarm! I had the girl just video tape the truck to capture the noise and in doing so it turns out my mud flap was getting caught in the tire and making the awful racket.

Oh man, that's hilarious. I had horrible sounds in my front end at full crank from pretty much the same thing. I thought my CV's were going to blow up, turned out it was just the tires rubbing on a little piece of plastic that was sticking out in the wheel well.

LOL. Any idea where to get new mudflaps?

Try the wrecking yard. I don't like the stock mud flaps. I think they are too stiff and easily torn. I made some new ones, using an OEM mud flap as a template I bought some heavy duty semi truck mud flaps and cut two out of each one. Then I used some vinyl to make the 4WD logo on them. They are muc tougher, cheaper and look stock.

How many miles did you have on that motor? I would be pissed. Where is that crappy engine builder located? I did a HG myself not to long ago on my 22re and forgot to chase the head bolt threads. Got false torque readings and lost all compression in 1,3,4. I feel your pain at least you get to blame somebody else. I had to yell at the guy in the mirror. . Good luck and keep us posted.

Getting a whole new set will cost almost $100 which is rediculous, I paid less for the wheels, so I'm trying to find some elsewhere. I tried Pick-a-part on 99 because they pull the wheels off all the vehicles in there and I figured they'd have buckets full of the things, but when I went there I was told someone just took all of them the day before . Right now I'm seeing if MightyMouse, one of the members here, can get them. He started a thread a while back saying he has access to what is basically a Toyota graveyard and can get any part you want. Seems like he's gotten a lot of stuff for a lot of people here so it's worth a shot. PM'd him yesterday, just waiting to hear back. We'll see, If I can't get them by other means I'll just have to break down and buy new ones. I just hate to spend more on lug nuts than I spent on wheels.

If you haven't found lug nuts yet let me know I will look through my garage. I know I have a set somewhere I have been kicking around. If I come up with it make me an offer. I will look tomorrow as I have to clean up the garage and pull her in. Got a set of flame thrower injectors to sample. I got really lucky.
