Towing with Pickup 4x4?

Hello, I have a 1993 Toyota Pickup V6 5-speed manual 4x4 with tow package. From what I looked up, tow rating is 3500lbs. I was wanting to be able to tow a wolf pup 16pf camper that’s rated as 4999lbs GVWR but the UVW (unloaded weight) is 3784lbs So would I probably be able to tow it as long as it was unloaded with no water/propane etc? and if so what type of mods should I make or things should I watch out for? I’m assuming I should have brakes installed on the trailer. I’m also planning to put a new performance 3vze engine in the truck that has more horse and torque than stock. Any insight?

Some important things for you to consider are:
How often you will be towing that trailer
How far you will be towing that trailer
And over what terrain. Mountains?
Toyota running gear is pretty stout and your 5 speed will be better suited for it than an automatic.
If you are swapping engines to get more power you should look into the 3.4 swap and definitely put in a new clutch and the best you can get to handle the extra load.
keep the tongue weight to a minimum so you don't overload your truck's rear suspension but don't put too much weight in the rear of the trailer (that will make it fishtail like mad).
If you are planning long distances over mountain ranges you might want to rethink your plan.
