Reply to this thread, in a single post we want to see
1-2 good pics of your rig, and a little bit of the story. (I mean it on 1-2 pics! a couple good ones, it's not a photo contest)
Win our hearts by telling us it's story...
We want to hear about what you've done to it...
what it has done to you....
how the hell it's still driveable looking so beat-up....
or how you've managed to keep the body so damn straight!
We're leaving this up and open for 2 weeks so you and
all your buddies and can get entered in. Then we're going
to launch a Poll and let everyone on the forum have a chance
to decide who takes the prizes!
We're going to make a couple shout-outs on our social media
through-out, so there could be a lot of eyes on your rig!
Decide what you're going to spend it on right here:
I’ve owned it for 7 years and it’s taken me through nearly everything I’ve asked it to.
3 inch suspension lift
4.88 locked front and rear
Marlin Taco Box
And to much more to mention.
I have been into offroading since I can remember with my dad driving up a large rock slab in his full-size blazer and me sitting there in AWE as to how it is not even close to the road. When I was older the sense of exploration and seeing things that only a few get to see led me to buy the FJ Cruiser when it was released again and that cut my teeth into the real world of off-roading. Taking my 2 daughters into the deserts all around Las Vegas and letting them learn to walk in the sands of Logandale. I then moved to Colorado and life moved on with me still very active in the offroading community in either overland builds or now into truggy builds. One of my friends invited me to come to the Rubicon for Marlin Roundup and that is still one of the best vacations that I have taken, not only the Rubicon it's self but the amazing people you meet on the trail and awesome stories I have from just 4 days.
Several years later I was going through a rough patch in my life and that same friend sold me a truck that he had and I shipped it Colorado not having any idea how to even shift twin sticks or if you could turn the wheels with a front locker engaged. since I bought my truck I have learned all about the axles and different gearing as well as how a frame crack can be fixed and to plate everything even if you think it is solid. I am now building a first gen 4Runner so I can take my kids out more and hope the generations continue to enjoy that offroad world as much as I do.
My current project, 1983 Toyota PU, swapping in a 3rz. This pickup belonged to a buddies uncle who gave it to him. He used it for awhle until he grenaded the orginal motor. It sat with dreams of swapping in a 22re, but that never happened. When I got the space to start a project I traded a running, driving '88 4runner to him so that he could take his young daughters out into the woods. Now it currently sits in my garage waiting for me to get more free time (wife currenlty has cancer, which takes up most of my time and money.) It will get finished, just needed to extend my time frame lol. Enjoy!
Here is a picture of my current Toyota and my first Toyota, I sold my first when my oldest son was born in 1990 and always missed it so last year after searching for the right Toyota I landed on this 1990 Toyota 4Runner that had already been SASed. It still needs a bit more work but what driven 4x4 doesn't right?
