Why IFS blows???

Don't waste your time or money on Sway-Away torsion bars unless you have three or four fat guys on your front end. You will lose travel, kill the ride and basically piss away 100 bucks.
And as long as I am replying, that Camburg kit makes all other IFS stuff look silly. Too stiff, hardly. Not what I would do for what I wheel, but it looks to work all right for Fear.

Could it be that his spring rates are too high with the camburg kit? It seems to me that this would be one highly probable factor to making that long travel kit be stiff with little flex.

Hay Steve would you kiss me before you Spank me?
Dont judge my rig from that one pic. My rig is a 4 door fam wag. Its not a SAS rock rig. (as much as i would like to cut it up and tube it and SAS)
It works ok. ya my rig didnt have a lot of kool droop or comp. but the frnt and rear together work "ok" . Its one of the things you need to see for yourself.
Hay Steve we need to plan a trip to AZ.
here are some more pics of my p.o.s.

Fear has his vehicle set up very well for the areas he goes to. I have mine set up for the areas I go to.
They are not the same, I never have a need to go fast. He does.

#4 should be idler arm/steering rack to cover the newer trucks...

I have both ifs and a solid axle rig, they both have different good and bad qualities about them. IFS doesn't suck, it's just limited in travel. It's way more comfortable to drive, more stable, and can take a little abuse. Solid axles can flex well, this is true... but they suck at speeding down a desert washboard road! Just get one of each and have the best of both worlds!

actually, w/ 14" of SAS'd soft spring travel, I tend to motor right along on washboard stuff. The 6" of up travel does a pretty good job of absorbing impacts, and 8" of droop follows the contures ok.
The licence plate on my rig is SloYota, but that pretty much only applies to the hi-way. The 22RE, 35's and 5.29's will get me up to 62 MHP or so most of the time

Aw hell... I tried to be nice earlier in the posting by pointing out the goods and bads of each. IFS is ok, just limited... I have seen some IFS rigs (mine included) do some pretty amazing things, albeit scarier than shizzle at times. A solid axle has the ability to out flex an IFS any day of the week, and is way more capable in alot of situations... IFS does not however totally suck; ergo alot of good can be found in the setup. How many of you have busted a birfield??? What a huge PIA!

, let me clarify that. IFS really blows for real off-road vehicles, I.E. rock crawlers
