I'm in the process of installing a Warn M8000 on an ARB bumper but have 1 question. There is one small black wire marked "motor ground" coming from the control pack that is not mentioned anywhere in the instructions, do I just ground this somewhere conveniently or do I need to connect it to where the 2ga black wire from the neg battery terminal connects to the winch motor?

I seached and I found. But I don't like the answer. The small black wire marked "motor ground" is way to short to make it back to the battery and it comes with a ring connector at the end. It must either go to the winch motor along with the 2ga black wire as mentioned above or to any convient ground location. Which is correct?

Edit...I found a hand sketch of the correct wiring and the small black wire marked "motor ground" from the control pack goes to the motor ground DOH :pat: On my M8000, this is the single bolt on the opposite side of the motor from the other A, F1 & F2 cable connection points. The negative lead from the battery also connects to this motor ground bolt. :bigclap:

 

I had a problem with this too, The winch also uses body or bumper ground, For some reason the winch stopped working and I found out it was the mainbolts mounting the winch to the bumper, I could hear the relays click but the motor wouldnt turn, After I lossened the bolts and greased them so no more corosion and retightened them It works, So if you have this problem Maybe run a ground wire with it to the frame or neg bat terminal.

 

Thanks for the inputVooDoo. My Warn M8000 has a heavy gauge wire that runs directly from the battery to the motor so hopfully I won't have that problem but go info!
