warn 8000 overload warnings
i just recently installed a m8000 on the front of my truck . never had a winch or operated one b4. I was just curious/ paranoid i guess u could say as to overloading it. i know it will pull my 4000 pound toyota out of any situation. but my question if my "dumb friends" get there f250 on 37 buried in the mud and decide to call me to pull them out, will my winch do it. if i get to pulling and its to much for my winch i have been told warn has a automatic shut down when it starts overloading. is there something i should listen for or will it just begin to smoke.

First, your toyota is probally a bit more than 4K, probally closer to 5K.... when you throw in the weight of heavier tires, lift kit, etc... but a 8K winch should be plenty...
like Adam said get a snatch block, you may find you use it a lot... even on your 5K truck if your in the mud to the frame its going to be all that winch can do to even move you, let alone get you out without a snatch block.... when your stuck in mud to the frame the frame suctions to the mud... in effect making your truck much much heavier than it is...
