firstly - i think a good place to search would be junk/wrecking yards. sometimes you can find them from beat up 3rd gens. i haven't ever heard of a place you can just buy them from online, or the dealer, but maybe there is such a place.

secondly - i think it will work in your 8 inch diff, you just gotta modify the housing a little bit. i know i'll be corrected real quick if i'm wrong.

thirdly - for more info, do a search here on the board and a whole lotta information will come up on toyota e lockers. all my info so far has just been from memory on what other people have said, so you might want to hear it from someone who knows more on the subject or actually has one of these lockers.

InchWorm if you need 4.88 or 5.29, or any discount Toyota parts dealer for higher ratios such as 4.56 or 4.10.

Marlin is also selling them in complete differential setups in 4.88:1 ratio only. Price: $765.

There are many good writeups on the modifications needed for the rearend housing and wiring needed if you want to use a factory style switch by members here and on 4x4wire.

You can also search Car-Part.com . I found a lot of used ones there, mostly in the 4.10:1 ratio. Prices vary from $350-$800 the last time I searched.

Good luck!

Take a look at Phong's E-locker retrofit page. There are several different write-ups documenting this but his is the one I am most familiar with. It should give you an idea on what is involved in doing this (at least on a 3rd Gen 4Runner).

Hope this helps.
